I am a completely different person now to the one I was before 2014. And though I believe we are all constantly evolving, sometimes big seismic events happen in life and we are fundamentally changed forever.
One such event happened in my life in 2014. When my Dad chose to leave our family. All at once, I lost my Dad, one of my best friends and my hero and I was left utterly bereft. My Mum, Sister and I became even closer and supported each other, but I respectfully leave their stories as theirs to tell.
I had a wonderful childhood, supportive, loving, fun and full of kindness and understanding. Then, at 31 years old my reality was suddenly shattered and something inside me broke.
My incredible partner (now husband) was amazing, and I will be forever grateful that he and my 6-month-old son were with me to give me a reason to wake up in the morning. (As well as repeatedly through the night!!)
Though I continued to try and salvage a relationship with my Dad, it was not to be and the last time I saw him was Christmas Eve 2015.
At this time, I was crying a lot, unable to focus and struggling to find much enjoyment in life. Feeling completely out of control. I knew this was not the life I wanted for me and my family and a chance meeting with an old colleague at a wellbeing fayre was to change everything.
I was introduced to my first Reiki Master Teacher that day and unbeknownst to me at the time, I began my healing process. My spiritual journey began thick and fast and like many do at the beginning I sought out all manner of healing modalities and soaked them up like a sponge! Reiki, Law of Attraction, Meditation, Chakra Energy Healing, Visualisation, Oracle cards all became my reality and slowly I began to heal.
In 2021, I began my Shamanic journey and found a deep sense of belonging in the powerful teachings and practices. And it was whilst sitting on this training that my Dad passed away suddenly in September 2022. The grief and range of emotions I have experienced, has been difficult to place. And as so much time had passed, the expectation from others seemed to be that it was not such a profound loss as if we had been in contact. But it has been a deeply felt experience and a sense of having come full circle from where I began my healing process.
Everything that I have learnt and experienced on my healing and spiritual journey has allowed me to navigate this loss with understanding and grace. There has been anger, sadness and misunderstandings of course, but ultimately, I have been able to ride the waves of the experience and regain my balance and control. It hasn’t been easy, but I have survived and will continue to thrive.
After all of my uncertainty around trusting and the literal shaking of my foundations that started my journey, I am so grateful to have a wonderful loving husband and a son who is my absolute joy. Living life with them is a blessing.
I share this story with you not for sympathy but as a way to share with you that light can always be found in the darkness and however you are feeling, healing is always achievable. Even when it seems impossible.
Sharing the skills that I have gathered on my journey is an absolute privilege. Whether it be through healing sessions or teaching individuals the wisdom and information I have learnt directly, I love my work. Enabling others to feel empowered and in control of their lives, armed with an arsenal of techniques at their fingertips. Navigating their life experience, whilst feeling seen, heard and held in a safe space.
I will be forever grateful that so many people trust in me as their guide.
